Commercial:
Further to the trade presentations in 2006 and the announcement of the granting
of an exclusive worldwide licence to a major international medical device and
component manufacturer, tooling for commercial quantities of the Luer lock and
Luer slip versions is currently being produced and product launch is planned
for the fourth quarter of 2008.
Further details regarding the licensee, product versions and availability
will be released at the time of the launch.
Technical:
Leading on from the development of standard Luer slip and Luer Lock versions,
further work is currently being undertaken to extend the range to include
reconstitution devices for lyophilized drugs, versions integrated with pre-fill
syringes, and also a version suitable for use with auto-injectors.
Testing:
Recent trials have demonstrated that the Sleeve-Lok needle meets all the requirements
of healthcare workers in terms of safety, ease of use, balance, light weight,
low operating force and safe disposal. The results also showed that the needle
meets all the criteria expected by national and international professional
bodies.
